Comparison of internal exposures to pollutants in students from eastern and western states of Germany between 1997 and 2009

Summary

This report provides results of a special evaluation of ESB human biomonitoring data aiming at analyzing internal exposures to pollutants in students from eastern and western states of Germany. This analysis focuses on differences in current and former pollutant levels in blood and 24 h-urine and their change over time. This statistical evaluation is based on samples from more than 5,000 participants aged 20 to 29 years acquired between 1997 and 2009 and comprised standard mean comparisons and multivariate regression analysis. Due to the large amount of variables to be analyzed, a standardized and easy to use semi-automatic approach was applied.
