Raum Zehren
Transition area between the upper and middle courses of the river Elbe
The sub-area is located in the transition area between the headwaters and the middle Elbe. The river runs through the landscape of the Saxon hill country and the foreland of the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains).
This section of the Elbe is straightened and reinforced by coarse gravel. No transverse structures or barrages obstruct the waterway.
The sub-area Raum Zehren reflects the water pollution caused by the city of Dresden.
