Unterhalb Innmündung
Downriver Inn mouth
Last sub-area of the river Danube before leaving Germany
The sub-area Unterhalb Innmündung (below the mouth of the river Inn) lies south of the Bavarian Forest in Germany’s lower reaches of the Danube between the mouth of the Inn and the German-Austrian border.
Due to its use as shipping route, this section of the Danube is characterised by extensive straightening and chains of barrages. The banks are completely reinforced by gravel. The inflow of the Inn results in a high load of suspended particulate matter and a milky colour of the water.
The sub-area Unterhalb Innmündung represents the water status of the Danube when it leaves Germany.
